Electrochemical oxidation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol on iron-doped nanozirconia ceramic

Solvothermaly synthesized zirconium oxide nanopowders, pure and doped with various amounts of iron ions (1?20 %), were used as modifiers glassy carbon electrodes. The modified electrodes tested in the reaction electrochemical oxidation 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) order to investigate influence doping on performance zirconia matrix. techniques cyclic voltammetry impedance spectroscopy employed. Cyclic showed that electrooxidation TCP proceeded through hydroxyl group. Possible pathway included formation quinones polyphenol film electrode surface, leading fouling. Iron enhanced activity matrix towards electrooxidation. Electrochemical importance content for preferable quinone was favoured by low (doped 1% iron), while surface more pronounced at samples higher ion (for 10 20 % iron). sample 5 added ions, intermediate behaviour, where formed slight degradation.
